Minna

I have been working as a glass artist since 1989. I am working in the field of art and design. I cut glass and make my art with different techniques. My main technique is nowadays glass fusing.

I am fascinated by the vividness and the sensitivity of glass. Simplification and strong colours are evident in my works. Beside the colours a central theme of my works is the nature and the dialogue of life and death. The light and shadows give deepness to the glass as well as the joy and  sorrow that gives taste to life.

I live and work in the village of Koskenkorva (Ilmajoki). Since 2005 I have organized many exhibitions in my glass studio Gallery. I think it is very important to show professional art and design in the countryside. Especially I have introduced finnish and international glass art in this part of Finland, South Ostrobothnia.

The glass art has long traditions in Europe. That is why I am very interested in the international co-operation. It is also very important from the professional aspect. I have had many exhibitions (with jury) in Finland and in Europe.

I have been developing the education of glass as a teacher and  as a glass artist in the Ikaalinen College of Crafts and Design.

I am a member of The Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo, Konsti Art and Design Association, Finnish Glass Artist Association, Ostrobothnian Artists´ Association and The Culture Association Kytö of Ilmajoki.

Making art is breathing for me.
